New Training Course: Introduction to Labor Market Information

Learn the basics of using labor market data with this new course developed in partnership with Lightcast.

The Introduction to Labor Market Information courses from the Rework America Alliance will help you gain a grounding in using labor market data, including what types of data are available from free and paid sources, the pros and cons of types of data, and how it can be used to inform workforce development programs and help job seekers learn what opportunities are available to them.

Designed to help career coaches understand how labor market data can be leveraged to help job seekers, the course offers valuable insights for anyone new to working with labor market data.

The self-paced, online course is available free of charge and takes less than an hour to complete.

How to access the course

The Labor Market Information courses can be taken as a standalone module or as part of the Foundational Career Coach Skills Training program. The full program teaches a skills-based, human-centered, equity-driven approach to supporting job seekers in their career journeys, over four modules, each containing four to six courses.  The training aims to equip coaches with the tools they need to help job seekers navigate the current job market.

The courses can be accessed online through your browser or added to your organization’s learning management system.

You will be asked to provide your name and work email address to access the training.  This information will only be used for evaluation purposes and to inform you of new content as it is made available.

Access for your organization

We encourage you to add this course to your organization’s learning and development platform to provide easy access to this content for other members of your organization.  Ask your HR or training manager to complete this short form to obtain the files to upload to your  learning management system.

The Foundational Career Coach Skills Training was developed to equip you with the tools you need to help job seekers navigate the current labor market. It covers a wide range of topics relevant to helping job seekers, including how to use new data sources available to career coaches, how to identify barriers and biases job seekers may be facing during their job search, and how skills-based practices can help highlight their value to employers.

This training program teaches a skills-based, human-centered, equity-driven approach to supporting job seekers in their career journeys. An approach which can help to create deeper relationships and better understanding between career coaches and clients which can lead to more successful outcomes and longer-term success for the job seeker. You can also access Skill My Resume to help job seekers create a skills-based resume aligned to the job they want.   Developed in partnership with Lightcast, this online resume tool draws on an extensive library of skill descriptions and suggests language that employers currently use in job postings.
