On January 19, 2011, Markle submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) on a report released by the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). The PCAST report outlines recommendations for achieving a digital health care system that would increase health care quality while reducing costs.
Though Markle shares PCAST’s sense of urgency to catalyze broad-scale implementation of health information technology to transform health care, Markle has identified areas for further development and analysis, and provides additional recommendations.
