The authors of the January 2011 Department of Defense report Protecting the Force: Lessons from Fort Hood have found that Department of Defense information sharing systems and policies are not adequate to protect US forces from internal threats. Among other information sharing-related findings, the authors noted that, “There is no formal guidance standardizing how to share Force Protection threat information across the Services or the Combatant Commands.” (Protecting the Force: Lessons from Fort Hood, page 28.)
