Jobs for the Future (JFF), a national nonprofit that drives transformation of the U.S. education and workforce systems, and the Markle Foundation, which works to improve the economic security, national security, and health of all Americans, announced plans to transfer one of the foundation’s marquee initiatives, the Rework America Alliance, to JFF.
There’s no doubt about it, skills-based practices are becoming more mainstream with many employers and states making commitments to drop degree requirements. But is it important to remember that skills-based hiring must extend beyond dropping degree requirements and updating job descriptions.
With Ohio being one of the latests states to announce an executive order to prioritize skills-based hiring, we looked at what changes are being made and why.
