Lorraine Fernandes, RHIA, global health care ambassador for IBM, monitors health care trends and their impact on health care professionals.
Prior to joining IBM, Fernandes held a variety of executive positions during her 12 years with Initiate Systems. She has served in volunteer capacities with the Markle Foundation Connecting for Health, AHIMA, FORE, and HIMSS, and received AHIMA’s Discovery Award. She was president of California Health Information Association and received its Distinguished Member Award.
Fernandes is a frequent speaker and published author in domestic and international forums including AHIMA, B-eye Network, Government Health IT, HIMSS, Health Information Collaborative (HIC, Australia), and eHealth Canada, where she addresses topics of e-health adoption, patient and provider identification, privacy, data exchange, and health care transformation.
