Robert Tennant is the Senior Policy Advisor with the Washington, DC-based Government Affairs Department of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. He focuses on federal legislative and regulatory health information technology issues for MGMA including HIPAA, electronic health records, electronic prescribing, ICD-10, and other electronic health information technology issues.
Tennant serves on the Board of Directors of WEDI, is a co-chair of the WEDI EHR workgroup and past Chair of the WEDI Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP). In addition, he is co-chair of an industry ICD-10 coalition, co-chair of the eHealth Initiative’s Aligning Incentives workgroup, serves on the Physicians EHR Coalition, Markle Foundation Consumer Engagement workgroup, Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare CORE workgroup, National Uniform Claim Committee, and has served on the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology and on the American Health Information Community Consumer Empowerment Workgroup.
Tennant contributed to the Markle Common Framework for Networked Personal Health Information.
