Rick White is the Principal of the Woodbay Group, a consulting and investment firm in Seattle, Washington. He focuses primarily on projects in the technology and pubic policy areas. Most recently, White was Cofounder and CEO of IP Street, Inc., a Web-based platform for analyzing patents and other intellectual property.
From 2001 to 2005, White served as President and CEO of TechNet, the leading public policy and political service organization for the technology industry. Prior to joining TechNet, White served in Congress as the U.S. Representative from the First District of Washington State.
In Congress, White gained national attention through his work on the Internet and high-technology issues. He was a founder of the Congressional Internet Caucus, and played a key role on technology legislation in the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998.
White serves and has served on the boards of several for-profit and nonprofit organizations, including Motricity, Inc., the Markle Task Force on National Security in the Information Age, and the Council of American Politics at George Washington University. He holds an undergraduate degree in Government and French from Dartmouth College, and a Law degree from Georgetown University.
